hello stranger

okay two things worth mentioning... i watched the monty python holy grail movie again, and you guys would be so proud of me because i got a bagillion (mock me not that i just made up a word...) more jokes. ive decided that monty python is one of those things that gets better with each viewing. but i still stand by the fact that the ending leaves you feeling like youve been 261'd, and if you have no idea what the term "261'd" means then you should listen to police scanners more often.

progressing to the second thing worth mentioning today, me, my sister, and my mom went to Razzmatazz (at least thats what i think the place was called) and this place is for home decor, i guess. anyways i really like the store, its got all this pretty junk that you dont really need but still really want. (i was suddenly hit with deja vu, and im not sure why...) anyways though, we bought this thing to hang above our pantry. its really pretty wood that has even prettier swirlies (what technical terms im using today) and it stained dark. its looks nice, but to give it added pasazz we firsted brushed over it to give it a more weathered look (removing some of the stain) then went back over it to with olive oil to make the wood more shiny and take away some of the dirt.

it wasnt a whole lot but i still love stuff like that. restoring old things. when i grow up id love to restore an old house. its been the dream for quite a while infact, i suppose this all kinda ties into my love for antiques. if i ever had the time id do resotration projects. a good while back i convined my mom to buy the cutest table phone. it was probably made in the 70s or 60s so its kinda ugly at the moment and not really an antique. it has all this brass on it, and the actaul phone has this very cheep-looking, sun-faded plastic all over it. the top of the table is covered in marble. whats great about the table is that it's a rodery (sp?) dial. someday, when i find the time im gonna repaint over the gross brass and paint first some nice color (not sure yet) then repaint over it black. the reason for this is that it has very pretty little flowers all around it. the black will not reach all of the crevices of the flowers, thus they will be outlined in whatever color i choose to be the first coat. the phone part is more tricky. i dont know what exactly im gonna do with the ugly plastic, but it has to go. maybe i can just unscrew it and the actaul metal body of the phone will still be there. maybe i'll have to find some spare parts, or i might have to replace the enitre receiver (though i'd prefer not to do that), either way, im gonna change it. after that there is the case of the marble. its very pretty marble and while ive always been more of a granit person myself, the grey marble will match nicely with the black outside. in the end i think it will be adorable because ive always wanted a rodery phone (remember my obsession with antiques). geh, restoration is the hobby that i simply dont have the time or money for. if i were ever into art and if i had more patients i think that i could really enjoy art restoration. itd be fun, and i love work where you can see progress and when its all finished and done you have a feeling of accomplishment. i love working with my hands. but alas, im not crazy about art, its nice and all, but i just cant see myself studying art when i leave for college. it worries me sometimes, i can only see myself doing one thing after/during college, but at the same time its one of those things that ppl always talk about then never do. or one of those things they do when they're fifty+. but i dont want to wait. i dont want to lose any of it because i waited too long. geh, i suppose.

time to go and do other stuff, not sure what yet, but i'll find something to do with myself im sure.
